Fair is fair

Since the weather was gorgeous, we decided to venture out to Grand Island for the Nebraska State Fair. And although the parking was RIDICULOUS due to the other thousands of people that decided to go that day as well, I would say that we had a fair day at the fair.
Here we are standing in line to wait & wait & wait for the shuttle bus from the parking lot.
The girls were especially taken by these tiny baby goats. The family fun area was both amusing & joyful. It still strikes me often that though our kids get more farm exposure than most, they are still "city kids". Not that this is a terrible thing, it's just kind of a shocker for this "farm girl". I love it that they get SO excited about the animals, the produce, & the tractors. I'm glad we are lucky enough to enjoy our own Grandpa-driven combine rides each fall (so we didn't feel a need to wait in the three hour line!)

I hope this is the only seat of the State Trooper's car that I ever see Andrew or Rebecca in.We also enjoyed the exhibits, a few kiddie rides, fair fare, & shows. Redeeming some more of the Summer Reading Program prizes we got about $25 worth of goods! Free admission, coloring books, ribbons, hot dogs, & last but not least chocolate covered Cheetos. I have to admit we never would have tried them if they weren't free, but they weren't completely repulsive! How's that for a compliment?
Rebecca's favorite was the Clown Polka Band, Teresa's was watching the kangaroos at the Australian exhibit, & Andrew's was running through a crazy maze on the Midway. My favorite part of the day was just watching their amazement & enjoying time with all five of us; happy & together.

  1. We enjoyed free admission and kiddie rides thanks to summer reading too but stopped short of the chocolate covered Cheetos. We just weren't brave enough. :)
