Fair time

Our county fair is practically down the block from our house, so we couldn't resist stopping over for some fun.  We checked out the 4-H exhibits, weaved through my cousin's cool MAZE, avoided the racing pigs!, rode some rides with our free tickets from the library,

 & checked out the animals.

The next day I brought out the kids' first entries for Open Class.  They each did some artwork & had a lot of fun.  Here are Rebecca's masterpieces... the one with the rainbow & bird nest in the tree earned a 3rd place!
Teresa's were still rather abstract.  ;)
Andrew really took some time on his work. The top one is a watercolor of our town which he used some really unique techniques on that included using salt & rubber cement.
Back to survey our work!  (The awesome butterfly in the background is our friend Jacob's, so we decided to get all three of their works in the picture.)

Thanks to standing in the long line for the bumper cars a few evenings before, which was right near the exit, two different families passed on their remaining couple of tickets to us!  So the kids each enjoyed one more ride.

It was such a great experience to submit entries for the fair & then go see what others had done.  They came away with MANY ambitious ideas.  :)  Guess we'll see what next year's fair holds!

    1. Oops. I WISH the library did tickets this year, but alas... I guess that was actually on our Summer Fun Pass. Such an awesome deal!

    1. My favorite part is actually the little hook off to the side that he's so interested in eating, even though there's no worm. ;)

  3. It looks like your kids inherited the artistic genes. ;)

    1. We all love to create! I'm sure your family could have made a clean sweep of the whole fine arts section of the fair... have you ever entered anything?

  4. Ha! I didn't notice the hook but I was going to comment on the fish, too. I'm impressed. Trevor and I have been practicing our Manga (some Japanese art form we discovered in a library book) dinosaur sketches and they would make you laugh!! Trevor even admitted, "Mommy, I am not good at this...at all." I should post a picture of them, just for giggles.
